I am opening a Studio (and a Lingerie Boutique)

I know, I know, I can’t believe it either honestly. I am moving my boudoir studio out of my beautiful little space in my home, to a way bigger space and opening a lingerie boutique in downtown Lethbridge. Society Lingerie is a new business launching later this year, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Opening the Fall of 2021, Katlyn Jane Photography & Weddings is moving to the Paramount Boutiques on the corner of 8th Street and 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge. Shortly after the studio moves, we will be prepping and opening Society Lingerie.

In December of 2020, we took the studio from okay to fabulous by adding custom molding and making it look SO much better.

In 2021, my business grew, I have been busier than I ever expected.

With each session booked, I sent out my boudoir guide and chatted about wardrobe for their boudoir session, I got frustrated with options. We have extremely limited options for sexy lingerie. We have a great lingerie store that I buy my bras at, but they don’t sell many sexy bodysuits or pieces for a boudoir session. The only other options are chain stores, and sizing is either limited or skewed. Or forced to shop online.

Enter my initial idea of starting an e-commerce portion for my brand. I thought that we could make a storage and shipping area in our basement. I could pull pieces for clients in their size when they are in for their session, and we could do markets. But I know I prefer to have the option to try things on, and there is a need for an experience and not just buying online.

In March of 2021, I learned of and started a course with two incredible businesswomen in Michigan to teach me all the things about retail! Elise and Michelle have been invaluable in my journey to opening the lingerie boutique.

Society Lingerie will be an upscale, feminine lingerie boutique that offers unique bras, panties, bodysuits, and elevated everyday wear for all sizes and all bodies, that make every woman feel confident and beautiful.

We will be Alberta’s first experienced-based boutique with the boudoir studio on site. I am going to offer private shopping appointments, and I will have limited shop hours to start. I am only one person, and I still am a mom and a partner, and a photographer, and an employee.

But just look at how beautiful this space is going to be!!! And this is just painted walls and floors!
